New works from Jim Benedict and David Nackashi will be on display through Sept. 29 at the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach, 50 Executive Way, Ponte Vedra Beach.
An opening reception with Benedict and Nackashi will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the cultural center and will feature live music, wine and appetizers.
Benedict’s work fuses elements across mediums and focuses on social themes.
“The objects and ideas I investigate have the ability to create understanding of larger systems within our society,” Benedict says. “My work serves as a core sample of our culture.”
Nackashi attempts to place the viewer into his paintings and develop a sense of the subject’s surroundings.
“When painting, my intention is to give the viewer a sense of place,” Nackashi says. “I’ve been interested in standing under a tree, for example, and painting its shadow and everything else but the tree.”
The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
