Planning pays off for annual fundraiser

More than 600 people attended St. Gerard Campus’ 34th annual Fashion Show Fundraiser in December.

The fundraiser, which benefits the St. Gerard Maternity Home and High School, featured fashions modeled by volunteers, students, teachers and board members.

The clothes were from local stores and national chains including 360 Boutique, Old Navy, Men’s Wearhouse, Panama Hats, Rochelle’s Clothing, Taylormade Golf Shop and Clelia’s Party Dresses.

Event coordinator Cindy Smith worked with the merchants and models, and volunteers spent months planning and setting up the nonprofit organization’s largest fundraiser of the year.

In addition to volunteers who donated their time, local businesses donated items for a silent auction, which also helped St. Gerard Campus raise money for general operating expenses.

Services provided at the campus include a maternity home for teen moms, an accredited high school for pregnant and new teen moms, day care services for children of the teens attending the high school, free pregnancy testing and sonograms, and outreach services providing some essential baby supplies like diapers and wipes for the community.
