Hot Shot Bakery N Café welcomes kids into the kitchen this spring with monthly baking and cooking classes.
In addition, owner Sherry Stoppelbein will host a Kids’ Baking Contest entitled “I Love Limes + Caramel.”
The contest pairs limes and caramel, two popular ingredients in many of Hot Shot Bakery’s pastries, cakes and signature desserts.
To enter, children ages 8 to 13 can submit a recipe and photo to Leigh Cort at firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for entries is May 1.
The winner will receive a private baking class with Hot Shot Bakery’s pastry chef Jalyn Howard, plus a private tour of historic St. Augustine, lunch at Hot Shot Bakery and a private baking class.
The top 10 finalists for the “I Love Lime + Caramel” contest will be invited to the bakery June 15, where their creative recipe and entry will be sampled and judged by regional food judges.
Recipes can include cakes, cookies, bars, pies or tarts.
All finalists will receive a special dessert to take home.
