Eighth-grader delivers youth-centered message

During Third Sunday Youth Services in February, Jasmine Cummings delivered a message tailored to Christian youth and young people in general at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist.

Cummings addressed the many distractions and temptations young people are confronted with on a daily basis, much of which is conveyed through social media.

She offered encouraging alternatives and well-researched scriptural references to guide youth around many alluring pitfalls, closing her message with advice to the youth to stay connected to the church, to stay in the Word, and to stay focused on their future.

Cummings, who attends Richard B. Murray Middle School, is an active Sunday school student, as well as a member of the Youth Choir and the Angelic Tabernite Dancers.

In addition to Cummings’ message, the youth service included a devotional service by the Young Men’s Ministry and a performance by the Angelic Tabernite Spiritual Dancers.

The Third Sunday Youth Service is part of the church’s “Dare to be Great Series.”
