Lighthouse Church of God welcomed Pastor Richard Young onto the staff earlier this month.

Young will serve as the youth pastor for Revolution Student Ministries as well as language arts teacher at Beacon of Hope Christian School.

Young comes to Lighthouse Church of God by way of Jamaica.

While in Jamaica, he served as a school teacher for eight years in the Jamaican public school system, a Bible college professor for two years, and a lead pastor at two churches, for a total of 10 years.

Pastor LaVoy Newton, lead pastor of Lighthouse Church of God, said Young will be a tremendous asset to the ministry.

“Pastor Richard comes to us overqualified for the position, but we did not hold that against him,” Newton said.

Young has a master’s degree from The Mico University College as well as a bachelor’s degree in theology from Bethel Bible College.

He will be joined by his wife, Davine, and their 5-year old son, Jon-Nathan.

Newton, who has served as youth pastor since January 2013, will continue in his role as operations pastor at Lighthouse Church of God.

The church celebrated the transition with a “passing of the T-shirt” on July 16th.
