Chabad of St. Johns will partner with Lowe’s once again this year for a pre-Chanukah Menorah Building Workshop. The workshop will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 3 at 4040 Oldfield Crossing Drive, Jacksonville.
Wearing mini Lowe’s aprons and goggles, children of all ages will each craft a Menorah with a host of supplies available from Lowe’s.
In keeping with the tradition of eating foods that remind those in the faith of the miracle of the oil, light refreshments in the form of fried foods will be served.
Participants will also watch a demo of olive oil making just as they did for the original Menorah, and Judah Maccabee will make an appearance.
The highlight of Chanukah is the kindling of an eight-branch candelabra - the Menorah – on each of the eight nights of the holiday.
“Chanukah brings the generations together around the light of tradition,” said Rabbi Mendel Sharfstein, Director at Chabad of St. Johns. “During the time of the Chanukah story, our ancestors rededicated the Holy Temple in Jerusalem with the lighting of the Menorah. Today, we rededicate ourselves to making this world a better and brighter place.”
Reservations are requested to make arrangements for supplies.
