Founded 20 years ago, The All Saints’ Youth Choir is comprised of singers in grades seventh through 12th, who meet on Sunday afternoons to rehearse. Members come throughout the Atlanta area, representing 18 schools.
Many of the choir members have moved up through All Saints’ graded choir program, beginning with Pre-k.
The choir sings challenging music of many styles from around the world and through the centuries: Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Global and Gospel. They sing for worship four to five times each semester and at major services on Christmas Eve and Easter. The choir travels one weekend a year to perform and witness at other churches.
Past trips have taken them to New Orleans, Louisiana; Savannah, Georgia; Birmingham Alabama; Montgomery, Alabama; Chattanooga Tennessee; Columbia, South Carolina and Hendersonville North Carolina.
Karol Kinard Kimmell has served as the Director of Youth and Children’s Music at All Saints’ since 1998, planning and directing choral and hand-bell choirs for children in Pre-k through 12th grade. In addition to working at All Saints’, Kimmell serves on the faculty and is co-director of the Choristers Guild Institute, a three-year summer certification program for children’s choir directors.
She also co-directs and serves as a clinician for Music Week at Lutheridge in Arden, North Carolina, a summer music and worship conference for church musicians throughout the South.
