Preserving the oral history of locals

Interviewees from the West Augustine Oral History Project, as well as Brockington Associates senior historian Charles Philips Jr., from Charleston, South Carolina, who conducted the project’s interviews, gather during its debut event Saturday at Collier-Blocker-Puryear Park.

This event included the screening of a short documentary by Flagler journalism student Samantha Autencio, created for the project by video recording and compiling a selection of the interviews.

The oral histories, including recordings and transcripts from each interview, can be found at oralhistorycollection.omeka.net and have been provided to the St. Augustine Historical Society Research Library.
