The Salvation Army of St. Johns County will accept applications for its annual Thanksgiving/Christmas Angel Tree programs at the Salvation Army Worship Center, 1425 Old Dixie Highway, every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon and again from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, call 904-824-6956, ext. 4403 or 4407.

 

•Westaff is currently hiring bell ringers for the months of November and December. These positions can be either full- or part-time. Employees must be willing to travel in between different locations within St. Johns County. They also have other positions available including production and warehouse positions, dishwashers, servers, custodians and general laborers. Ladyz on 2z MC will host its second annual weekend Nov. 17-19. A meet and greet will be held at Mardi Gras Sports Grill, 123 San Marco Ave. The annual ride will begin at the same location on Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. Later in the day, the Ladyz on 2z Picnic will be held at Pomar Park on Masters Drive. New Jerusalem Worship Ministries extends a public invitation to Family and Friends Day Weekend on Nov. 18-19. • The First Coast Chapter of the Charmettes will host its Denim & Diamonds Bash on Nov. 25 in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Tickets are $20 and the event will go from 7:30 p.m. until midnight at the Mark Lance Armory, 190 San Marco Ave. See any member of the Charmettes for tickets.

• Judge Alexander R. Christine Jr., Adult Drug Court Judge for St. Johns County, will present a public education program on the benefits of drug court on Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Solomon Calhoun Center, 1300 Duval St.

If offenders acknowledge their guilt and their substance abuse problems and go on to successfully complete a treatment program, their sentences may be reduced or charges even dismissed. The talk is sponsored by Compassion in Action, an initiative of Compassionate St. Augustine.
