APOPKA, Fla. — An Amber Alert helped lead to the arrest of a 50-year-old man accused of abducting his step-granddaughter in the middle of the night.
A motorist spotted the pair Sunday morning and flagged down one of dozens of deputies searching for 11-year-old Makayla Fisher and her step-grandfather, Darrell Mills. Deputies immediately tracked them down after the tip.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office say Mills abducted Makayla from her Apopka home just after 2 a.m. Authorities say she was unharmed when they found her more than eight hours later.
Authorities say they arrested Mills and expect to charge him with kidnapping.
