Property taxes due March 31

 

St. Johns County property taxes for 2016 are due March 31. Taxes can be paid online at www.sjctax.us, by mail if postmarked no later than the March 31 deadline, or in person at any of four branch locations. The St. Johns County Tax Collector office location at 4030 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine, will be open 8:30 a.m. to noon March 25 for tax collection and other services.

Curbside tax collection service will be provided at the Lewis Speedway office location only, 9 a.m. till 4 p.m., on March 31. A team member will be outside on the east circle driveway to accept payments made with personal check, cashier’s check or money order. Cash will not be accepted curbside.

Taxes not paid by March 31 will be become delinquent and a 3 percent penalty will be applied.

Parks & Rec Master Plan workshops announced

St. Johns County is hosting Parks and Recreation Master Plan community workshops from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Pacetti Bay Middle School, 245 Meadowlark Lane, and from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Trout Creek Community Center, 6795 Collier Road. Residents are invited to the informational workshops to discuss the plan and offer feedback to staff. The Tuesday meeting will also include a discussion to gain community feedback regarding recreational facility needs in the World Golf Village region. For more information, call 209-0322.

Waterway debris to be removed from river

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has started removing debris related to Hurricane Matthew from the St. Johns River. Contractors began along the Julington Creek shoreline and will continue working south to remove and dispose of vegetative and structural debris in the waterway. The contractor will only remove debris in the river, and it must be related to Hurricane Matthew. Debris located on or attached to private property will not be removed. Armstrong Park trailhead to be dedicated with ribbon-cutting

St. Johns County is partnering with the Spuds, Elkton and Armstrong Community Help Resource Center Inc. and the Florida Department of Transportation to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Armstrong Park trailhead at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday at Armstrong Park, 4950 Harvey Ave. The ceremony is open to the public. The trailhead will extend the Rails to Trails multi-use recreational route and provide restrooms and parking for visitors. For information, call 806-3939.

St. Johns County lane closures

Information provided by the Florida Department of Transportation (through March 25):

A1A at Euclid Avenue: Daytime lane closures with flaggers Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for turn lane installation. Bicycle lanes are closed until the end of March due to construction barrier walls installed on both sides of the road at the intersection.

A1A – Ponte Vedra: Daytime southbound lane closures weekdays through March 31 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Marsh Landing Parkway to Sawgrass Village Drive for ditch cleaning.

St. Johns Parkway/County Road 2209: Lanes are reduced to one way in each direction from Russell Sampson Road to Arabella Way for State Road 9B construction. Lane reductions are in place for the duration of the project (summer 2018).

State Road 13 – Remington Creek Bridge: Daytime shoulder closures Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the bridge for routine bridge maintenance.

State Road 13 – Roberts Road to Greenbriar Road: Daytime lane closures weekdays through March 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Roberts Road to Greenbriar Road for ditch cleaning.

State Road 207 – East of Cracker Branch Bridge: Daytime westbound lane closures Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction of the bike/walking path trailhead.

State Road 207 – Holmes Boulevard to Vermont Boulevard: Daytime lane closures weekdays through March 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Holmes Boulevard to Vermont Boulevard for clearing curb drain inlets.

U.S. 1 at State Road 206: Lanes have been reduced to one lane in each direction at the intersection until mid-April for realignment of existing off-set turn lanes.

U.S. 1 – Hilden Road to Gun Club Road: Daytime lane closures weekdays through March 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for median and shoulder maintenance.

U.S. 1 – Nocatee Parkway ramp: Daytime lane closures Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. over U.S. 1 southbound Nocatee Parkway ramps for routine overpass maintenance.
