At least two model homes appear to have been burglarized in a World Golf Village neighborhood over the weekend, Sheriff’s Office reports indicate.
The deputy who filled out the reports on Monday afternoon said he was called to the D.R. Horton/Emerald Homes community on Perfect Drive in reference to a delayed burglary.
A manager for D.R. Horton told the deputy that his boss had emailed him saying that model homes in the neighborhood appeared to have been burglarized and appliances had been stolen from at least one of them.
Upon checking three of the model homes, the deputy noted in his reports that an air handler, air-conditioner condenser and washer and dryer had been stolen from one of the houses.
A water line to the refrigerator had also been cut, and the refrigerator moved to the door “where it is believed to be staged to be picked up at a later date,” the report said.
At another house, the deputy noted that a back screen door had been cut and the sliding glass door had pry marks on it. Inside, the deputy found the refrigerator sitting by the front door, also with its waterline cut.
Nothing appeared to have been taken.
At the third home, the deputy again noted the screen door had been cut but it did not appear anyone had entered the property.
The manager told the deputy no one had seen the missing appliances since March 30.
The deputy estimated there was $120 worth of damage done and $3,500 worth of items stolen.
