St. Augustine Police officers arrested a 29-year-old man Monday night after his pregnant girlfriend said he placed her in a choke hold.
Jonathan Scott Blair was booked into the St. Johns County jail on a single charge of aggravated battery shortly after the incident, a police report says.
The officer who filled out a portion of the report said he responded to the area of King Street and U.S. 1 after receiving a report of a physical disturbance between a male and a female.
Officers later found Blair and his girlfriend, who are both listed as homeless in the report, near the intersection of King and Riberia streets.
The officer said he spoke with Blair but he was “uncooperative and verbally aggressive” toward him and another officer.
The woman, according to the report, said she is pregnant with Blair’s child and the two have had a history of domestic violence over the course of their 9-month relationship.
She told the officer that Blair had placed her in a choke hold, but did not cut off her air supply.
