St. Augustine Christmas Parade no longer canceled; sponsors come forward to save event

The St. Augustine Christmas Parade will take place after all, parade director Linda Abbott told The Record on Tuesday.

Abbott had said the parade was canceled because she couldn’t find a sponsor to pay fees that the city charges to cover police presence and barricades.

After the article a Record article was published Tuesday, people came forward offering to pay for the event, Abbott said.

“There’s all kinds of people calling, wanting to help, so it’s just been amazing,” Abbott said on Tuesday.

“I have a couple of people that want to sponsor the whole thing.”

The parade will begin at 9 a.m. on Dec. 2, she said.
