Chamber names 2017 honorees

 

The St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce recognized several members of the local business community with its 2017 Business Leadership Awards.

Cecile Browning Nusbaum of Old City Web Services was named Chamber Member of the Year for her efforts “in the wake of hurricanes Matthew and Irma and for her leadership of the Chamber’s Historic St. Augustine Area Council.”

Other honorees were Jason Barrett of Flagler Hospital (Fred Schroeder Economic Development Council Member of the Year), Michael Scine of Scine & Scine CPAs (President’s Award), Martey Lewis of Money Pages (Gene Morse Ambassador of the Year Award) and Matt Price of Regions Bank (Grace Hayes Ambassador of the Year Award).

JCPenney store turns to ‘Clearance’

The JCPenney at Ponce De Leon Mall is converting to a JC Penney Clearance Center as of Nov. 18. According to a press release, the store will be “dedicated to selling clearance merchandise,” “offering savings up to 70 percent across the entire store.”

Local surgeon addresses biomaterials symposium

Gregory E. Oxford, a St. Augustine resident and periodontal, implant and dental surgeon, was recently invited to speak at the Keystone Dental Biomaterials Symposium in Washington, D.C.

Oxford’s presentation covered “advanced regenerative materials and techniques available to predictably regenerate bone at intraoral sites to salvage teeth and for dental implant installation.”

Oxford has practiced in St. Augustine since 1999.
