The St. Johns County School District is opening high school facilities for a summer pilot program encouraging community health and wellness.
The track, tennis and outdoor basketball courts at six high schools will be open for public use from 9 a.m. to noon on June 11, June 18, June 25, July 9, July 16 and July 23.

Catherine Van Housen, assistant principal at Patriot Oaks Academy, has been selected by Superintendent Joseph Joyner to be the principal of PVPV/Rawlings Elementary School. Her nomination will be presented to the St. Johns County School Board at their June 15 meeting.
Van Housen will replace Kathleen Furness, who is retiring after 17 years with the district.
St. Johns River State College will accept applications for the EMT and Paramedic programs through June 30. Classes will begin in August. The program includes a blended format of online and classroom work with field experiences.
The college is also accepting applications for the Florida Corrections Officer Academy. Day classes will begin September 6 on the St. Augustine campus. Orientation is set for Aug. 23.
