First Coast High product Kevin Stepherson was dismissed from the Notre Dame football team on Tuesday night, according to multiple media reports.

Stepherson, a receiver and a Times-Union Super 11 and 24 selection in his time at First Coast, was the third-leading receiver on the Irish last season (19 catches, 359 yards, five TDs), despite playing in just eight games.

Stepherson’s time in South Bend was marked by immense problems and undeniable talent. He was one of five players arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charges in August of 2016, before he’d even played a game. Stepherson was suspended the first four games of the 2017 season for a violation of team rules. His final mistake, a shoplifting arrest last December, earned him an indefinite suspension.

In addition to Stepherson, coach Brian Kelly also dismissed running backs Deon McIntosh and CJ Holmes, and defensive tackle Brandon Tiassum from the team.
