Meenakshisundaram reaches semifinals of Florida Women’s Amateur at King & Bear

Atlantic Coast High School rising senior Ramya Meenakshisunduram won two matches Saturday at the King &Bear course at World Golf Village and reached the semifinals of the 88th Florida State Women’s Amateur Championship.

Meenakshisunduram defeated Jacksonville University transfer and Ponte Vedra High graduate Hannah Berman 2 and 1 in the round of 16, then routed the stroke-play medalist, Jessica Dreesbeimdieke of Juno Beach 5 and 3.

Meenakshisunduram will face Shannon Aubert of Championsgate at 7:30 a.m. today. Jamie Freedman of Miami Beach will play Karoline Tuttle of Lake Mary in the other semifinal, 15 minutes later.

Freedman beat Kimberly Benedicts of Bonita Springs 4 and 3 and Ashley Zagers of Oldsmar 1-up. Tuttle beat Megan Schofill of Monticello 1-up and Hallianne Hobson of Fort Myers in 20 holes.
