Aqua East Grom Fest to include surfing, wakeboarding and skateboarding competitions

The Aqua East Surf Shop in St. Augustine is hosting Aqua East Grom Fest this weekend in Jacksonville Beach.

Surfers, skateboarders and wakeboarders ages 17 and under can compete for cash and prizes. All skill levels are encouraged to come out, participate, meet friends and cheer all the surfers, skaters and wakeboarders.

The event begins Friday with the Free Skate Jam 4-8 p.m. at South Beach Skate Park and includes skate tricks and instruction games from top skateboard companies. The surf contest is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at South Jacksonville Beach Pier. And the wake contest is set for 9 a.m-4 p.m. Sunday at Mike McCue Park and Boat Ramp on the Intracoastal Waterway.

The competitions will feature a variety of divisions including: junior open (17 and under), junior women (15-17), boys 12-14, girls 12-14, junior boys (9-11), junior girls (9-11), 8 and under co-ed, Sandy Forsyth Longboard Contest (all ages), Best Wake Trick (all ages) and Free Fun Skate Jam. Awards and giveways from national sponsors will follow each event.
