FLORENCE, S.C. | Cole Ondrejka tied a tournament record with five hits and scored the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth as Flagler College stayed alive in the Peach Belt Conference tourney.
The Saints (29-23) defeated Lander University 4-3 Thursday in a loser’s bracket game at Sparrow Stadium. After losing their opener Wednesday, they will try to fend off elimination again today at 10 a.m. against. USC Aiken. If Flagler wins, it will play a second game today at 5 p.m.
Lander (21-31) committed six errors in the game, including three in the ninth to allow the winning run to score.
With the score tied 3-3, Ondrejka hit a one-out single to right. After Igor Baez flied out, Jake Hathway reached on a fielding error by second baseman Colton Yeager and Ondrejka ran to third on Yeager’s throwing error. A walk to Jason Moore loaded the bases, before another error led to the decisive score.
Third baseman Mason Dodd cut off Ja’Kobi Dasher’s grounder to short and threw in the dirt, allowing Dasher to reach first and Ondrejka to cross the plate and extend the Saints’ season.
Ondrejka went 5 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and the run. He became the sixth player to produce five hits in a Peach Belt tournament game. The last player to do it was UNC Pembroke’s Josh Haley six years ago.

Starter Cooper Wallace allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings. Ryan Ashworth pitched a scoreless seventh, and Dante Pagano pitched to two batters in the eighth, allowing a leadoff single and getting a strikeout.
