Sorenstam to appear at World Golf Hall of Fame

The 10th anniversary weekend of the American Junior Golf Association’s Annika Invitational will include a World Golf Hall of Fame Speaker’s Series appearance by Annika Sorenstam, the 10-time major champion whose foundation sponsors the tournament.

Sorenstam, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003, will be at the Hall Museum at 2 p.m. Saturday to participate in a question and answer session and autograph signing. The event is included in the museum admission fee that day. Sorenstam won 72 LPGA titles and 93 worldwide events.

The first round of the Annika Invitational will begin Saturday at the World Golf Village’s Slammer & Squire course, with 54 holes of competition. The field includes 17 of the top 25 players on the Rolex AJGA girls rankings, and the 72 players in the field represent 16 states and 15 countries.

Six of the top-10 players on the rankings are entered, including No. 1 Lucy Li of Redwood Shores, Calif., No. 2 Rachel Heck of Memphis, No. 4 Yujeong Son of Norman, Okla. and No. 6 Gina Kim of Chapel Hill, N.C.

Players who have signed with Florida State, UCF, Clemson, Michigan State and Duke; and those who have verbally committed to Florida, UCF, Florida State, Auburn, Tennessee, Stanford, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oregon and North Carolina also are entered.
