Table One is a restaurant in North Ponte Vedra Beach that has a lot on its plate. From live music and wine tastings to big-screen televisions, the restaurant is both sophisticated and family-friendly. There are 200 seats including a long bar and an outdoor patio, and serves lunch and dinner. It has been in operation since 2013.
You can eat light with a caprese salad, or go for the gusto with the chicken and shrimp linguine entree.
The whole beverage spectrum is served from cider to champagne with select wines and signature cocktails sandwiched in between.
Live music plays Thursday through Saturday nights and managers Mimi Simpson and Kevin Barry believe their happy hour is one of the best in town.
Q&A WITH MANAGERS MIMI SIMPSON AND KEVIN BARRY
How would you describe the restaurant’s atmosphere?
Lively, family friendly, casual and upscale at the same time. The inside of the restaurant was completely renovated four years ago when everything was white. The new tones are warm and inviting. We have three large-screen televisions. People will come in to watch big sporting events like the Kentucky Derby or the Super Bowl.
What is your food philosophy?
Chef George Garcia is very creative. Last week he came up with bacon risotto with blue-cheese crumbles and honey-onion marmalade. We make our amazing bread pudding with brioche buns, topped with caramel, powdered sugar and pecans. Our truffled fries are tossed in truffle sauce and sprinkled with pecorino cheese.
What types of cuisine do you specialize in?
Our flatbreads; we are known for them. The bread is made in a wood-fired stone oven, and we offer 10 flats to pick from. If you’re looking for Italian, there is one with sweet Italian sausage, roasted Romas, caramelized onion, melted mozzarella, aged parmesan and fresh oregano.
What is your signature dish?
That’s a tough one. New York strip with our truffled fries, or the mango mahi — sauteed Mayport shrimp served with a mango-butter sauce served over lightly blackened mahi, and a side of red-pepper mashed potatoes and asparagus.
What would you recommend for a first timer?
Our lunch mahi taco with bell pepper, carrot slaw, Monterey jack and avocado aioli. For something light on the salad side, try the turkey, pear and brie flat bread. It’s smoked turkey breast, Bartlett pear, sliced brie and mozzarella, with a honey-mustard drizzle and fresh parsley. You have to have our homemade bread pudding, it’s the size of a small loaf, definitely our signature dessert to share with your dining companions.
