Two people were injured in a six-car crash on Interstate 95 early Wednesday morning.
The crash near mile marker 327 closed the northbound lanes of traffic for hours during the morning commute, forcing authorities to divert drivers onto U.S. 1 via International Golf Parkway.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue said there was at least one vehicle fire at the scene of the crash involving a semitractor-trailer and “several” passenger vehicles.
Once the flames were put out, crews worked to clean up diesel fuel that had spilled on the roadway.
Florida Highway Patrol announced around 10 a.m. that the lanes had been reopened.
The two injured were transported to a local hospital with “minor to moderate” injuries.
